The situation has reached a critical point, according to a statement from the Platform for a Dignified Learning Space in Playa de San Juan. An extracurricular talk occupied one of the classrooms, and with no other space available, not even the library, second-year baccalaureate students were forced to use the stairs as their classroom.
“"Today an extracurricular talk was held in one of the classrooms and, with no available space (not even the library), second-year baccalaureate students were forced to have their class on the stairs."
Given this problem, the teaching assembly insists on the need to build a new institute in the area. This demand is one of the reasons why they will support the indefinite strike called for May.
Furthermore, the CCOO Education Federation has urged the Conselleria (Regional Ministry) to develop an emergency plan for educational infrastructure to address the severe deficiencies suffered by many educational centers. The platform has submitted a resolution to the Personnel Board of the Province of Alicante, which was approved unanimously, but they lament that institutions continue to take no action.
