The Alicante Book Fair will host the presentation of a biographical essay on journalist Antonio González Pomata, accompanied by a tasting of local products.

This Sunday, May 10, the Alicante Book Fair will be the setting for the presentation of the new biographical essay published by the Alicante Institute of Culture Juan Gil-Albert. The work focuses on the figure of the Alicante journalist Antonio González Pomata, recognized for his career as a gastronomic reporter and creator of the Menjars de la Terra project.
The book, titled Andar, ver, saborear y contar. El compromiso de Antonio González Pomata con las comarcas y la gastronomía de Alicante, explores González Pomata's legacy. It was written by Josep Bernabeu-Mestre, Inés Antón, Ángeles Ruiz, and María Tormo-Santamaría, offering a look at the transformations of Alicante society between the 1950s and 1990s through his critical vision.

His critical view of the reality he reported on, first in the agricultural sector and later in the ethnographic, tourist, and gastronomic fields, made him a reference and prescriber.

The presentation, which will take place at 1 PM at the fair, will include a tasting of typical local products. Attendees will be able to savor coca en tonyina and coca de almendra from Horno Antiguo de Benimagrell, as well as vermouth from Bodega Cooperativa San Vicente Ferrer de Teulada. González Pomata was the visible face of the Menjars de la terra project, an initiative launched by the newspaper INFORMACIÓN in 1985.
