Coordination between Adif, the Generalitat, and Alicante City Council has led to new proposals for the future Central Park, with commitments to finalize the agreement by the end of 2026.

The second coordination meeting between Adif, the Valencian Generalitat, and the Alicante City Council regarding the planning of the future Central Park has concluded with new commitments and the formulation of proposals on how its construction should proceed. According to Adif sources, the definitive drafting of the regulatory agreement for the already-consensual project is expected to be finalized before the next meeting, scheduled for July 15. Thus, the agreement would be ready for signing before the end of 2026.
Adif has reportedly already reserved an initial budget allocation to guarantee the execution of the agreement, which contemplates a minimum global investment of 347 million euros to be shared among the three administrations that are part of the society Avant, responsible for promoting the project. The initial draft agreement suggests that the central government would assume 50% of the investment, while the Generalitat and the City Council would contribute 25% each, although this could be adjusted based on the local administration's economic capacity.
Municipal representatives have raised the need for the project to be conceived as a "unitary and integrated" urban development, ensuring the complete configuration and execution of the railway integration, urbanization, and the construction of the future train station, which will be coordinated with the Tram station and the future bus station.
The Alicante City Council has proposed including an article in the agreement that calls for the joint and coordinated approach to the design of the project to ensure the architectural, urbanistic, landscape, and functional coherence of the new passenger building, the covering of the tracks, and the urbanization of the resulting public spaces. According to the Councilor for Urban Planning, Toño Peral, the aim is to "ensure an integrated and coherent solution with the structural planning foreseen for the entire sector".
To cover its contribution, the City Council has proposed financing methods such as requesting European funds or using surplus funds, which amount to over 155 million euros. It has also been proposed to utilize income from the commercialization of the resulting land, where the construction of around 1,400 homes is planned.
Councilor Toño Peral highlighted the firm decision of the three administrations to expedite this fundamental project for Alicante and thanked them for the speed in drafting the agreement and the willingness to dialogue. Meanwhile, the City Council plans to begin the detailed planning of the park as soon as possible, which will be 2.1 km long and cover more than 200,000 square meters.
