The Youth Department of Alicante City Council has awarded 50 subsidies of 200 euros to young residents who obtained their driving license during the second half of 2025, exhausting the 10,000 euro allocation.

These subsidies, aimed at fostering youth emancipation, were granted to the first 50 admitted applicants out of a total of 77 requests. The selection was based on the order of precedence and a tie-breaking criterion that prioritized the oldest applicant. Of the applications submitted, 10 were excluded primarily for not meeting the requirement of being registered in the city of Alicante.

"The commitment of the government team is to help young people emancipate themselves by promoting youth rental policies, financing their driving license, and adding to other aids that aim to foster important aspects for their development such as language training and employment counseling, in a transversal effort carried out by different municipal areas."

Carlos de Juan · Councillor for Youth
The aid is aimed at young people aged between 15 and 30 registered in Alicante who obtained any type of driving license between July 1 and December 31, 2025. The council is already working on a new call for applications to cover the entire 2026 fiscal year, which will be included in the 2027 Municipal Budgets.
Among the requirements to access these subsidies, being a large or single-parent family is valued, as well as having a disability greater than 33%. In case of a tie, the oldest person is prioritized. The objective of the Youth Department is to unify these aids into a single annual call covering the entire calendar year.
