The Contracting Board of the Alicante City Council has agreed to forward to the Government Board the resolution of the urgent public tender for the supply of radiocommunication terminals and accessories. The tender, divided into three lots, has a base budget of 262,692.82 euros.
In total, approximately 150 devices, including radios and portable terminals, will be acquired over two years. Some of these devices will be equipped for firefighting situations for the fire department, while others will be adapted for maritime use by Local Police and Firefighter vessels, capable of transmitting on the VHF Marine Band.
The awarded companies are Adesal Telecom S.L. for lot 1 (70,498.09 euros) and lot 3 (179,799.97 euros), and Teditronic S.L. for lot 2 (1,891.47 euros).
The Councilor for Security, Julio Calero, explained that officers use the COMDES Network (Digital Communications for Emergencies and Security of the Valencian Community). Although the infrastructure is supported by the Generalitat Valenciana, the terminals are municipal property. The new equipment will allow for the replacement of damaged or end-of-life terminals and the incorporation of additional units to meet new needs.
Part of the new equipment will be designed to cover maritime communication needs up to certain miles offshore for both the Firefighters and Civil Protection, who use VHF devices for these purposes.
In addition to portable terminals and fixed radios, associated replacement materials such as speakers, batteries, chargers, antennas, and cabling will be supplied. Lot 3 includes 144 Tetra portable terminals, five of them with ATEX safety systems, a VHF marine band mobile onboard radio, and four marine band portable terminals.
The Department of Security, headed by Julio Calero, has also completed procedures for the supply of personal safety equipment, such as bulletproof vests and helmets, as well as renewing uniforms and auxiliary specialized clothing, and promoting the acquisition of 27 new patrol vehicles to renew the fleet.
Concurrently, works are being finalized for the new Headquarters in Playa San Juan and the renovation of the Juan XXIII police station. A new management software for the Speis Firefighters has also been implemented to improve emergency response efficiency.
