Seven Films to Compete at Alicante International Film Festival

The 23rd edition of the festival will screen three debut features between May 27 and May 29 at Kinépolis cinemas.

Seven feature films have been selected for the official section of the Alicante International Film Festival, which will take place from May 23 to May 30, with competitive screenings scheduled between May 27 and May 29 at Kinépolis cinemas.

The 23rd edition of the Alicante International Film Festival has unveiled the selection of seven films that will be part of its official competition. Among the chosen works, three debut features stand out, highlighting the festival's commitment to new cinematic talents. Screenings of these films will be held at Kinépolis cinemas in Alicante over three consecutive days, from May 27 to May 29, as part of a festival running from May 23 to May 30.
The competition will commence on Wednesday, May 27, with the screening of Un hombre de verdad (A Real Man), the debut feature by Liteo Pedregal, starring Carlos Olalla and Olivia Molina. On the same day, audiences can watch Mi cielo, tu infierno (My Heaven, Your Hell), by Alberto Evangelio, a love story set in the 1960s and 70s.
On Thursday, May 28, it will be the turn of Absolute love, directed by Carlo Avventi, and A la cara (To the Face), by Alicante-born director Javier Marco. Also scheduled is Rabioso (Rabid), by Luis María Ferrández. The official section will conclude on Friday, May 29, with Que vienen los perros (Here Come the Dogs), by Iván Sánchez and David Tembleque, and Cowgirl, co-directed by Cristina Fernández Pintado and Miguel Llorens, which is also a debut feature.

The selected films will compete for the Golden Tessera for Best Film, an award endowed with 3,000 euros. Additionally, Silver Tesseras will be awarded for Best Direction, Acting, and Cinematography, along with the prestigious Sergio Balseyro Critics' Award. The festival receives support from institutions such as the Diputación de Alicante, the Alicante City Council, the Institut Valencià de Cultura, and À Punt Radiotelevisió Valenciana, among other collaborating entities.
