The police operation, which concluded on April 6, 2026, resulted in the arrest of a man and a woman accused of drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons. The couple used their residence in Alicante as a storage center for illicit substances.
According to investigations, the man used a specially modified vehicle for drug distribution. This car was equipped with a hidden compartment, known as a “caleta,” designed to transport the merchandise undetected during movements around the city.
Hidden compartments in vehicles, known as “caletas,” are systems designed to conceal drugs, money, or other illicit objects. They are usually installed in areas such as doors, seats, or dashboards. These mechanisms feature camouflaged openings, which complicates their detection and facilitates the transport of illegal substances without raising suspicion.
The investigation began following several reports alerting to the criminal activity of the main suspect, who was involved in selling cocaine and hashish through meetings with consumers at various points in the city. Officers established surveillance and confirmed that the detainee used his vehicle for transactions, a method that allowed him to act discreetly.
During the home search, authorized by judicial authorities, 206 grams of cocaine and 796 grams of hashish were seized. Additionally, a pistol, a revolver, a simulated weapon, ammunition, two precision scales, and a high-end vehicle were confiscated, all linked to the retail drug dealing activity.
