The town of Paiporta has hosted the launch of the RAEECCIONA campaign, an initiative aimed at promoting the recycling of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) through the network of local businesses.

The presentation event took place on Wednesday, April 8, at the ROMSAT appliance store, located in Plaça la Sènia. This establishment was chosen for its symbolic significance, as it is the only business of its kind that has managed to remain open in the municipality after the severe damage caused by the DANA storm.
The RAEECCIONA campaign, which will run until June, involves 120 businesses across the Valencian Community. Its actions include training distributors to inform customers about the correct use and recycling of WEEE. Additionally, participation is incentivized with a raffle for a 500 euro voucher to be spent at the establishment where the appliance was deposited.

"We want the population to see local businesses as an accessible and easy point to dispose of these waste products, but also as a source of information."

Julio Lema · Marketing and Events Director at Recyclia
Julio Lema, Marketing and Events Director at Recyclia, emphasized the importance of local commerce in this process, highlighting that these establishments ensure proper management of appliances. For his part, the mayor of Paiporta, Vicent Ciscar, praised the role of small businesses during the most difficult moments after the DANA, noting that "these small entrepreneurs have given help and hope to those who needed it most".
Ciscar added that the campaign contributes to both the ecological transition and the recovery of the municipality, stating that "ensuring a better future for future generations begins by getting involved in the present." The Director General of Quality and Environmental Education of the Generalitat Valenciana, Jorge Blanco, stressed the role of businesses as key agents in the circular economy, defining them as "environmental educators" and reminding that current regulations require this management.
The choice of ROMSAT as the venue is not accidental. Its owners, a Romanian couple with over two decades in the Valencian Community, managed to reopen their business after their premises were flooded by the DANA. Their story symbolizes the resilience of local small businesses, which, in addition to supporting the economy, become fundamental allies for initiatives like RAEECCIONA.
