The event, which took place in the walled city, gathered experts from across the country under the theme From the Church to the Salon: Music and Spaces of Sociability in 19th Century Hispanic Culture. This initiative allowed doctors, musicologists, and performers to share research and reflections on the evolution of musical practices and their connection to the social spheres of the era.
The presented papers delved into the role of music as a link between the religious and the secular, as well as its influence on the emergence of new spaces for encounter, cultural exchange, and identity construction. The program of activities featured the participation of numerous professionals with extensive experience in the musicological and performance fields.
The organization highlighted the added value of holding these conferences in Morella, as its rich historical heritage and scenic surroundings contributed to enriching the dialogue between music, history, and space. The 22nd edition of the Musicology Conference received sponsorship from the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC) of the Generalitat, the Morella City Council, and the archpriestal basilica Santa María la Mayor, the capital of Els Ports.
