Located next to the Municipal Washhouse, this new space aims to provide a meeting and development point for the town's youth. The original idea came from the association Olocau Viu, which secured funding after being the most voted proposal in the 2025 Participatory Budgets call.
This inauguration represents another step in improving an area of Olocau that has already undergone several interventions. Previously, restoration and conditioning works were carried out on the Municipal Washhouse and the old slaughterhouse (now the Espai Jove), as well as the Fonteta Joana or Els Xorrets. Additionally, an annexed public parking lot has been built, and the Senda dels Llidoners has been adapted.
The opening ceremony was attended by numerous residents, including members of the Municipal Corporation. Among them were the mayor, Antonio Ropero, and councilors Eddy Pérez, Desa Vilaplana, Pascual Esteve, Olga Brínquez, Salvador Navarret, María José García Pitarch, and Alejandro Gómez.
During the inauguration, Mayor Antonio Ropero and the president of Olocau Viu, Patricia Ramos, delivered speeches expressing their satisfaction with the start of activities and encouraging young people to actively participate in the development of this new space. Subsequently, the Youth Theater Workshop of the Cultural and Theatrical Association of Olocau (ACTO) presented two humorous and creative pieces that captivated the audience, with two sessions due to the large attendance.
The event concluded with an outdoor snack in the beautiful setting of the Barranco de Olocau, in a festive atmosphere. The first meeting of the Espai Jove is scheduled for next Friday, April 17, at 7:15 PM, and interested parties can submit proposals by contacting Olocau Viu via email at olocauviu@gmail.com or by WhatsApp at 722 80 27 66.
