These calls for applications, open until the end of May, represent a substantial increase compared to previous years. Javier Timón, delegate of the managing area, emphasized that the increase reflects both the desire to enhance support for sports entities and the need to adjust amounts to current legislation.
The program with the largest investment, exceeding 475,000 euros, focuses on school-age sports. These funds will be used, among other purposes, to pay the salaries of monitors who conduct activities in schools and municipal sports facilities. This allocation has seen an increase of nearly 30% compared to the previous year.
Beneficiaries of these grants include public educational centers, parent-teacher associations, and legally constituted sports entities. This system, which brings together hundreds of schoolchildren in Sagunto, requires applicants to plan their activities in advance for the 2026/2027 season.
The other aid package, amounting to 300,000 euros with a 25% increase, is aimed at fostering federated competition, organizing events, and developing training activities and integration projects within the sports field. These aids are divided into several lines, including team and individual competition, where CB Puerto Sagunto, Antonio Comeche, and Abde El Khayami were notable beneficiaries in 2025.
Despite the effort, some lines, such as the organization of training activities and the promotion of integration for diverse groups through physical activity, remained unawarded in the previous year, a situation that, according to the council, is common.
