The Valencia Provincial Council has presented the Gestifoc 2026 program, which will allocate 8 million euros to Camp de Morvedre for fire prevention and forest management, featuring bureaucratic simplification and an advanced call for applications for greater effectiveness.

The Camp de Morvedre will receive 447,968.92 euros from the Valencia Provincial Council for fire prevention and forest management, an amount that will be added to the 125,000 euros contributed by the Generalitat Valenciana. The president of the provincial corporation, Vicent Mompó, presented this Tuesday, along with the Deputy for Environment, Avelino Mascarell, the novelties of the 2026 edition of the subsidy program in this area.
In this region, the amount allocated to municipalities ranges from approximately 50,000 euros for Albalat dels Tarongers or Estivella, to over 7,000 euros for Canet d'en Berenguer, which received the lowest investment due to having less forest area. A similar case is that of Faura, the second town in Morvedre with the lowest subsidy, around 9,000 euros.

"We have completely redesigned our operations to simplify bureaucracy as much as possible. In this way, we continue to consolidate a more useful, more intelligent, and more connected way of understanding public action with the reality of our town councils."

Vicent Mompó · President of the Valencia Provincial Council
The provincial aid is divided into two blocks: fire prevention and forest management. In the first, Sagunt leads the list with 31,393 euros, followed by Algar del Palància (29,495 euros), Albalat dels Tarongers (29,158 euros), Alfara de la Baronia (28,686 euros), Estivella (28,285 euros), Benifairó de les Valls (26,405 euros), and Gilet (26,188 euros). At the lower end are Canet d'en Berenguer (7,085 euros) and Faura (8,945 euros).
Regarding forest management, Torres Torres has been the municipality with the highest investment, with 21,640 euros, followed by Albalat dels Tarongers (21,387 euros), Estivella (21,072 euros), and Gilet (20,964 euros). Towns such as Sagunt, Canet, Faura, Alfara de la Baronia, Algímia d'Alfara, and Petrés are excluded from these aids, which total 2 million euros and are intended for municipalities owning forests for work such as silvicultural treatments and improvement of vegetation masses.
In fire prevention, 6 million euros are mobilized to execute infrastructures planned in local plans, including firebreak areas, improvement of forest roads, and water points for extinction. Allocation criteria include municipality size (prioritizing smaller ones), forest area, existing planning, and the presence of protected natural areas or public utility forests.

"The halving of the bureaucracy that until now accompanied this plan has a double benefit: it simplifies management by local councils, and, more importantly, it allows preventive actions to be carried out more quickly."

Avelino Mascarell · Deputy for Environment
As a novelty, the 2026 edition of Gestifoc reduces the associated bureaucracy by half and advances the call for subsidies to March, three months earlier than the previous year, to start actions promptly and improve their preventive impact.
