The city of Sagunto has kicked off the 29th edition of the Ludi Saguntini, a classical culture festival that, throughout the week, transforms the municipality into an authentic journey to the Greco-Latin past.

Hundreds of students from various centers across the Valencian Community and other locations, such as Amposta or Burgos, fill the municipality. Attendees have the opportunity to participate in immersive workshops on cooking, crafts, writing, cosmetics, or dance, organized by the Ludere et Discere association in different city buildings and in Cronista Chabret Square.
In addition to the workshops, another important aspect of the program is the Greco-Latin theater festival performed at the Roman Theater of Sagunto. This key monument reinforces the historical character of this cultural initiative.

"The theater can enjoy seeing so many teenagers on this incredible stage; the Romans would not believe that, after so many years, classical works continue to be performed."

On stage, four tragedies and five classical comedies by authors such as Euripides, Sophocles, Aristophanes, and Plautus will be performed by students from all over the country. It has been announced that there is full capacity, although reduced, for the third consecutive year, as the national monument cannot accommodate spectators in the upper cavea or in part of section 'B'.
From the Generalitat Valenciana, the Head of Service of the General Directorate of Educational Innovation has highlighted the Ludi Saguntini as a benchmark in educational innovation and how heritage can come alive through active student participation. The Director General of Cultural Heritage added that heritage is alive because it continues to be used, emphasizing the value of the Roman Theater of Sagunto.
The president of the Ludere et Discere association thanked the work of the people participating in the festival, emphasizing the need to bring classical culture, Latin, and Greek to the streets, as the feeling and meaning of this great festival.
From the Sagunto City Council, the Culture Councilor expressed her satisfaction at hosting so many educational centers. The mayor closed the inauguration ceremony by thanking everyone who makes the event possible and stressed that the festival reinforces the city's identity and its educational and cultural projection.
