The À Punt program Terra de festes, dedicated to the most deeply rooted celebrations in the Valencian Community, visits three towns this week to discover their most emblematic festivals. The broadcast is this Friday, June 5th, at 10:45 PM.
In Salinas, the program delves into the Moros y Cristianos festival in honor of the Virgen del Rosario. This celebration, which began in 1972, has become the main festive symbol of this Alicante locality. Viewers will learn about the history of the comparsas, experience the firing of arquebuses, the parades, and the emotional offering of flowers to the patron saint.
In Calles, the celebration of San Isidro and Santa Quiteria combines devotion, agricultural tradition, and popular coexistence. The program will feature the offering of fruits, the pilgrimage to the hermitage, the transfer of the images, and the charanga (brass band) contest, an event that fills the town with music and color.
Finally, in Pina de Montalgrao (Castellón), the pilgrimage of Santa Bárbara will be experienced. This day, marked by family gatherings, includes traditions such as blessed 'rotllets' (small bread rings), a mass at over 1,400 meters altitude, and the distribution of “la caridad,” a unique recipe made with wine, sugar, and 'rotllets'.
With these three stops, Terra de festes continues its journey through the Valencian Community, giving voice to those who keep traditions alive and showcasing the cultural, festive, and human richness of its towns.
