The Generalitat anticipates that construction on the Battery Campus, linked to PowerCo's battery cell gigafactory in Sagunto, will commence before the end of 2026, with the facilities ready for the 2027-2028 academic year.

The Minister of Economy, Finance, and Public Administration, José Antonio Rovira, explained that the budget project includes a significant increase for the Directorate General of Heritage, partly allocated to three important initiatives for the Comunitat Valenciana, including the Battery Campus.
The Battery Campus involves the construction of the Integrated Public Vocational Training Center (CIPFP) and the Battery Academy space, supporting the installation project of the Volkswagen Group's battery gigafactory in the Parc Sagunt II industrial estate.
The basic project has already been delivered, and construction is expected to start before the end of 2026, with the aim of being ready for the start of the 2027-2028 academic year. Rovira highlighted this as a strategic investment to generate qualified employment, attract talent, and establish the Comunitat Valenciana as a European leader in sustainable mobility and advanced industry.
The project has a budget of over 30 million euros and will be located in Parc Sagunt II, near the future battery cell factory for electric vehicles. The building will have a total constructed area of 19,951.34 square meters.
The objective is for these facilities to offer training related to the new factory's activities, fostering knowledge transfer and innovation application, thereby enhancing educational offerings and quality.
The center's needs program includes six training cycles and the 'Battery Academy' space, featuring higher education degrees in industrial automation and robotics, electro-technical and automated systems, industrial mechatronics, industrial analysis and control, industrial chemistry, and environmental chemistry and health.
The Battery Campus will feature a publicly owned and managed area, entirely funded by the Generalitat, alongside a second area. While also publicly owned, this second part will be leased for 30 years directly to PowerCo under a lease agreement with an option to purchase, forming the PowerCo Battery Academy.
This specialized Vocational Training center will offer full training cycles (dual FP) and specialization courses related to the professional families of Electricity and Electronics, Installation and Maintenance, and Chemistry, all linked to battery manufacturing.
