The collective has expressed its concern about the current situation, as, they claim, the commitments and projects that justified the five-year extension to the company Ribera Salud have not materialized. These included an investment of 63.5 million euros for the expansion of the hospital, the creation of a second health center in Crevillent, an increase of 75 to 100 beds, and more medical staff in Primary Care.
“"The purchase of catheters, as well as other consumable material, is not included in the usual controls that the Ministry has established with the concession to date."
The platform has focused on the supervision of the concession, considering the response from the Ministry of Health, led by Marciano Gómez, regarding the purchase of catheters as “inexplicable”. This response, indicating that the purchase of consumable material is not subject to usual controls, demonstrates, according to the collective, a lack of oversight mechanisms over the concessionaire company.
Furthermore, the entity has denounced the “disastrous operation” of the health department, reflected in citizen complaints about staff shortages, coordination deficiencies, and difficulty locating on-call doctors. These situations, which include “horror situations” in healthcare, have led the platform to act as a support network for those affected, offering legal resources.
Finally, the platform has reiterated its demand to annul the extension and revert the service to direct public management, emphasizing that the company has not fully complied with its obligations regarding settlements with the Ministry and that the degree of compliance with the commitments acquired remains unknown.
