The town of Crevillent was the setting for an inclusive hiking day at the archaeological site of Penya Negra, bringing together users, professionals, and volunteers from ten occupational centers in the province of Alicante.

Last Thursday, April 23, the archaeological site of Penya Negra, in Crevillent, hosted the UPAPSA 2025 Level I-II Hiking Day. This activity, organized by the Provincial Union of Associations for People with Intellectual Disabilities of Alicante (UPAPSA), collaborated with the Archaeological Museum of Crevillent and aimed primarily at promoting physical activity and coexistence.
The day brought together users, professionals, and volunteers from ten occupational centers in the province of Alicante, in a natural and historically valuable environment. The route, adapted to levels I-II, ensured a safe and enriching experience for all attendees, allowing the participation of people with varying degrees of autonomy.
During the itinerary, participants were able to enjoy the characteristic landscapes of the area and learn about the historical and cultural relevance of the Penya Negra enclave, one of the most important sites in the southeastern Iberian Peninsula. The municipal archaeologist and staff from the Municipal Archaeological Museum were responsible for guiding the participants.
In addition to the hiking activity, the day fostered exchange between the occupational centers, strengthening bonds and creating a meeting space based on inclusion, collaboration, and respect. The organization highlighted the high participation and commitment of the centers, as well as the involvement of technical staff and volunteers, whose work was key to the activity's development.
UPAPSA continues to promote initiatives that contribute to the well-being, social integration, and improved quality of life for people with intellectual disabilities in the province of Alicante.
