The Generalitat Valenciana, with the presence of Minister Miguel Barrachina Ros and Crevillent's mayor, Lourdes Aznar Miralles, visited the district of San Felipe Neri this Monday to verify the completion of the hydraulic infrastructure modernization works.

The project, aimed at improving water resource efficiency and ensuring water supply for the agricultural sector, involved an investment of nearly 1.5 million euros. The intervention focused on renovating the well-known Canalillo, a key infrastructure for traditional irrigation in the area.
The old canal was replaced with a 900-millimeter diameter Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic (PRFV) pipe extending over six kilometers. The work was carried out in three sections and includes the repair of inspection chambers and the renewal of a diversion crossing the Azarbe de la Rambla using a siphon.
The primary objective was to eliminate water losses caused by the deterioration of the existing infrastructure, thereby enhancing the efficiency of the irrigation water transport and distribution system. Minister Miguel Barrachina highlighted the importance of promoting investments to optimize water use, emphasizing the Consell's commitment to irrigation communities and the agricultural sector, particularly in the Vega Baja region.
Mayor Lourdes Aznar Miralles positively assessed the completion of works that strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of Crevillent's agricultural land, thanking the Generalitat Valenciana for its investment in modernizing hydraulic infrastructure.
The San Felipe Neri Irrigation Community, established around the 1970s, manages water use and distribution among local farmers, playing a vital role in maintaining agricultural activity and the economic development of the Vega Baja.
