The Elche City Council has initiated the modification of the General Plan to facilitate the establishment of new businesses in the vicinity of Crevillente Road, seeking to adapt urban planning regulations to the current reality of the area.

This action will allow changing the predominant land use from industrial to tertiary in several sectors. This will favor the development of commercial and service activities in an area that already shows significant economic activity.
The scope of the modification includes different sectors close to the urban core, such as E-27, E-8, E-9, E-10, E-29, E-32, E-38, and E-41, as well as several distribution areas. These spaces have good accessibility and public transport connections, and already have consolidated commercial activity.

"The objective is to organize an existing reality and facilitate the establishment of new businesses without administrative obstacles. We seek to anticipate potential problems when granting commercial licenses."

The modification maintains the already consolidated industrial land but reverses the predominant use to favor the growth of the tertiary sector. The city council defends that this is not a specific project, but a planning effort to adapt regulations to the current needs of the municipality.
The approved agreement corresponds to the start of the procedure, which will now be sent to the competent Conselleria for environmental evaluation, a prior step to continuing with the processing. The City Council believes that this action will improve not only territorial planning but also services, mobility, and connectivity in an area with increasing citizen influx.
