The Government Board of Elche has authorized the granting of licenses for the construction of new homes in the district of Torrellano and has approved numerous changes of use from commercial to residential premises.

In recent weeks, the construction of new homes in the urban core of Elche has been limited. However, the real estate sector maintains its activity in other areas, especially in the districts and through the reconversion of commercial premises.
This Thursday, the Government Board gave the green light to the building permit for an 11-unit apartment building with storage rooms on Astronautas Street, 30, in the district of Torrellano. The developer of this project is the company Arrendamientos Las Vertientes SL, based in Alicante.
Additionally, a modification to the project by the company Mactoca Ilicitana for a 28-unit building on Brasil Street, 4, near El Corte Inglés, has been approved. This modification focuses on the internal redistribution of the homes and has already undergone several revisions in recent years.
Another important driver of the real estate sector in Elche is the change of use from commercial premises to housing. Last week, about twenty such conversions were approved, and this week, 13 more have been added, distributed across areas such as El Pla, Raval, Carrús, and the Zapatillera area. This trend is extending to very central premises, which traditionally had been used for commerce or hospitality, as is the recent case on Bisbe Tormo.
