The request comes after the council described the current situation in the town as “extremely serious insecurity.” This plea arises from a series of recent incidents that have caused concern among residents and visitors in Torrevieja.
One of the most notable events occurred on the promenade, one of the busiest areas. During this episode, Local Police officers were forced to draw their service weapons to apprehend an individual who had caused significant damage, including slashing all four tires of a patrol vehicle.
With this request for reinforcements, the City Council aims to ensure the necessary support for local security forces and improve surveillance in strategic points of the municipality. The main objective is to prevent further altercations and enhance public safety, especially in public spaces with a high concentration of people.
The request has already been forwarded to the competent authorities, with the hope that an increase in personnel in Torrevieja will be evaluated to address the situation described by the council itself.
