The Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, will participate next Friday, April 24, in the inauguration of 'La Senda del Poeta' (The Poet's Path) of Miguel Hernández in Orihuela, after his department announced it would finance the route and other activities to promote his legacy.

This participation comes after the Ministry of Culture confirmed a contribution of 40,000 euros to ensure the tribute to Miguel Hernández through the path. This decision guarantees the continuity of the event, organized by the Miguel Hernández Cultural Foundation together with the platform Tu Pueblo y el mío.
The news of state funding follows the announcement last February by the Valencian Youth Institute (IVAJ) that it would no longer finance the path. The IVAJ justified its decision due to a progressive decline in participation, the activity's cost (estimated at around 100,000 euros), and the path losing its accreditation in 2025.

"There has been a full-blown political and administrative boycott. They tried to prevent this 30th edition from happening, withdrawing funding, forcing inadequate procedures, and acting with a timeframe that made it very difficult to react."

Lucas López Moreno · President of the platform Tu Pueblo y el mío
López Moreno also criticized the contribution from the Orihuela City Council, which he described as "shameful," and the Alicante Provincial Council, which stated it did not have a budget to meet the collaboration request from the organization.
The inaugural event, starting at 9:45 AM, will include institutional speeches, poetic and musical performances, and the 'Hiker of the Year' distinctions. Hundreds of people participate annually in this activity, which began in 1998 and traces the significant places in the life and work of the Generation of '27 poet, from Orihuela to Alicante, where he died and is buried.
