The Ontinyent City Council has closed the 2025 fiscal year with a record surplus of 4,753,060 euros, a result of prudent economic management and the acquisition of external funds.

Mayor Jorge Rodríguez and the Councillor for Finance, Juan Pablo Úbeda, presented these results, which demonstrate efficient administration. Rodríguez highlighted that the municipal budget has grown from 25 million in 2012 to over 64 million currently, thanks to the capture of more than 19 million in external subsidies.

"We are going to ask that these 4.7 million euros can be invested in people and in the city, and not that they have to go obligatorily to the banks as the current regulations dictate."

The Councillor for Finance, Juan Pablo Úbeda, explained that the initial 2025 budget, approved at 64.6 million euros, finally reached 70.7 million after modifications worth 6.05 million. This management has allowed compliance with fiscal spending and stability rules, placing budgetary stability at 11.7 million, the highest figure in recent years.
Regarding debt, Ontinyent closed the year with a debt of 9.2 million euros, representing a reduction of over 55% since 2011, when the figure was 20.5 million. This decrease has led to a 39% reduction in financial expenses, which now stand at 207,000 euros.
The City Council has also achieved savings in personnel expenses of approximately 800,000 euros and in current expenses of 1.6 million, partly due to reduced energy consumption. Furthermore, economic support for social aid has increased from 150,000 to 283,000 euros, and for sports entities, which have seen their contributions rise from 31,000 to 79,000 euros. During 2025, over 12.7 million euros were executed in investments, including projects from the Edificant Plan, the construction of the new IES L'Estació, and urban and industrial park improvements, accumulating nearly 38.5 million euros in investments during this legislature.
