The Socialist Municipal Group in Gandia has presented a manifesto to demand a 10 million euro debt from the Valencian Generalitat, which includes unpaid works and lost aid.

This manifesto, supported by the Compromís Més Gandia group, will be debated in the next ordinary plenary session of the city council, scheduled for this Friday, April 24. The initiative seeks to compel the Valencian Generalitat to pay a series of outstanding debts that, according to the socialists, amount to a significant sum.
A substantial portion of the debt, approximately 6 million euros, corresponds to actions initially funded by the local council. These include works under the Edificant Plan and the new Palace of Justice, which have already been executed and paid for by the Gandia city council. However, the Valencian Generalitat has not yet recognized or reimbursed these amounts.

"If we advance the money for the execution of these works, it is unacceptable that it takes an eternity to return them. Before with Mazón and now with Pérez Llorca, the people of Gandia do not deserve to be disrespected."

The socialists consider it unacceptable that the Gandia City Council has to cover projects that are not within its competence with its own resources, effectively acting as a financier for the Valencian Generalitat. This situation, according to the party, distorts the municipal budget.
In addition to the unpaid works, the Socialist Municipal Group highlights that Gandia has lost over 4 million euros in aid since the Valencian Generalitat came under the control of the Popular Party. These cuts affect employment programs and subsidies for the tourism sector, a crucial economic area for the city.
