Improvement works on Camí Vell d'Oliva in Gandia have been completed, enhancing drainage capacity and safety against intense rainfall in the Benieto industrial estate, with an investment of 600,000 euros.

This action involved the comprehensive renovation of the storm drain collector and the rehabilitation of the road surface on both Camí Vell d'Oliva and the Pi roundabout, which is the main access to the industrial area. The new infrastructure incorporates a larger capacity collector, allowing for more efficient water evacuation and reducing the risk of flooding.
The project entailed an investment of 600,000 euros, jointly financed by the Gandia City Council and the Generalitat, through IVACE, contributing 40%. The company Vicky Foods covered the remaining 60%. This action responds to one of the first proposals put forward by the Management and Modernization Entity (EGM) of the Benieto industrial estate.
Following the floods recorded last October, the initial project was redesigned to multiply the drainage system's capacity by six. Among the most significant modifications are the extension of the collector to the service road of Alicante avenue and the increase of its diameter to one meter.

"The intervention responds quickly and effectively to the problems detected in October thanks to the strength of the City Council and its ability to attract investments and subsidies. Public-private collaboration and EGMs allow us to act with greater agility and provide immediate solutions to real needs in our industrial estates."

the mayor of Gandia
The general coordinator of Urban Planning highlighted the good coordination between administrations and the private company, which made it possible to modify the project in record time to increase the collector's capacity and improve the response to rainfall events. She added that, beyond the visible works, the most important aspect is the underground infrastructure, which truly enhances the system's safety and functionality.
This action is part of the modernization strategy for Gandia's industrial estates, which since 2017 has involved a global investment of 4.2 million euros, mostly from IVACE, and is expected to reach almost 6 million with forecasts for 2025 and 2026. The objective is to strengthen the competitiveness of the business fabric and consolidate the city as an economic hub in the Valencian Community.
