The Popular Party of Gandia celebrates that its proposal to repair the city's audible traffic lights is now a reality, improving accessibility and autonomy for visually impaired people.
After months of efforts, the city of Gandia has seen the effective repair of its audible traffic lights, an action that the Popular Party considers a significant advance in urban accessibility. This long-standing demand, dating back to 2021, has been driven by the popular municipal group.
The initiative stemmed from meetings held by the Popular Party last October with representatives from ONCE to gain first-hand knowledge of the needs and challenges faced by visually impaired people in the city. As a result of this work, a motion was presented to the municipal plenary.
“
"We have managed to make the city advance in accessibility with the repair of audible traffic lights, a historical demand that had not been resolved since 2021 and directly affects the safety and autonomy of visually impaired people."
The motion, which called for the repair of faulty devices at various points in the city, received unanimous support from all municipal groups. This consensus was key to unblocking a situation that had remained unresolved for over five years, according to the Popular Party of Gandia.
A spokesperson for the Popular Municipal Group highlighted the importance of this measure, describing it as useful and necessary to improve the mobility of all Gandians, regardless of their personal circumstances. They emphasized that actions like this facilitate daily life, promote autonomy, and advance full integration into urban life.

"When any differences are set aside and citizens are listened to, things move forward. A fair demand that improves the lives of many people has been addressed on this occasion."
