NiE Gandia has secured first place in the XXIX edition of the Open Natació i Esports Gandia trophy, an important event for national swimmers. The competition, which took place last weekend, saw the local club emerge victorious thanks to the collective effort of its swimmers.
In the final standings, Gredos San Diego took second place, while Club Valenciana de Natación completed the podium in third position. The competition level was very high, with top swimmers from across Spain competing in sprint and middle-distance events.
Individually, numerous personal best times (MMP) were recorded. Notable achievements include new regional qualifying times by Eduardo Polo (50m backstroke), Darius Stavar (100m breaststroke and 100m butterfly), Albert Muñoz (50m freestyle), Luis Tarraso and Martí Pastos (both in 100m breaststroke), Oscar Goñi (50m freestyle and 50m butterfly), Lucas Rodrigo (200m butterfly), Didac Rodrigo (200m breaststroke), Emma Garcia (200m breaststroke, 50m freestyle, and 100m freestyle), Claudia Berto (200m butterfly), Martin Bonchev (100m backstroke), Franco Dietrich and Alex López (both in 200m freestyle), and Rocia López (50m backstroke).
Meanwhile, swimmer Nathan Santos narrowly missed the national qualifying time for the 50m freestyle by three tenths of a second, clocking in at 25.3 seconds. He will have another opportunity on June 6-7 at the Delfín Trophy.
The Gandia club congratulated the entire team for their participation and results in this edition of the NiE Gandia Open, highlighting their effort.
