The city of Gandia is preparing to host an intense weekend of rhythmic gymnastics. Next Sunday, May 31st, the Municipal Sports Center pavilion will be the venue for the Absolute Regional Championship and the control for the second phase of the Spanish Cup for ensembles. The event, organized by the Vida Gandia Rhythmic Gymnastics Club with the collaboration of the Gandia City Council, the Generalitat Valenciana, and the Diputació de València, promises spectacle and high-level competition.
The Councilor for Sports, Jesús Naveiro, accompanied by the president and coach of the Vida Gandia Club, Alicia Salcedo, and the club's treasurer and coach, Aisha Merí, presented the event. Naveiro highlighted the importance of the event in positioning Gandia as a benchmark for regional rhythmic gymnastics and invited citizens to enjoy a competition "of great level and spectacularity".
The event will begin at 8:30 AM and will extend until approximately 7:30 PM or 8:00 PM, with various competitive sessions, award ceremonies, and group aesthetic gymnastics exhibitions. Admission will be free. Gymnasts from the Vida Gandia Club will compete in the absolute category, forming teams with other sports entities from the Valencian Community.
Alicia Salcedo emphasized the sporting relevance of the championship, considering it one of the most important events in the Valencian Community due to its high competitive level. She recalled that the Valencian Community has a large number of federative licenses, ensuring an elite competition, with many Valencian gymnasts among the top national rankings. Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of bringing such events to Gandia so that young local gymnasts can compete at home.
