La Safor Reduces Unemployment by 2.49% in One Year

The region records 8,909 job seekers, with Gandia and Oliva leading the improvement, despite the persistent gender gap.

The region of La Safor has registered a 2.49% reduction in the volume of job seekers over the past year, standing at 8,909 people according to June 2026 data.

La Safor's labor market shows a favorable trend, with a net decrease of 228 unemployed individuals compared to June 2025. However, the gender gap persists, with 5,397 female job seekers versus 3,399 men.
The improvement is concentrated mainly in the larger urban centers. Gandia leads the absolute reduction with 195 fewer people, reaching 4,538 job seekers. The decrease was distributed relatively evenly between sexes. Oliva also contributes to the decline, with 47 fewer people, totaling 1,365 job seekers.
Other towns such as Miramar (-11), Almoines (-10), and Benifairó de la Valldigna (-8) also recorded decreases.
In contrast, Tavernes de la Valldigna experienced a slight increase of 4 people (750 total), with a reduction in female unemployment offset by an increase in male unemployment. Bellreguard added one more unemployed person (224), with an increase in female and a decrease in male unemployment.
Municipalities like Vilallonga (215), El Real de Gandia (113), and Almiserà (13) maintained their overall figures unchanged, despite internal changes by gender.
On the negative side, Palmera registers the most notable increase, with a 42.50% rise (17 more people), reaching 57 job seekers, primarily affecting women. Xeraco adds 14 people (197 total), with a predominantly male increase, and Simat de la Valldigna increases by 12 (114).
Smaller towns experienced significant percentage drops. Castellonet de la Conquesta (-25%, 9 job seekers), Alfauir (-24%, 19 job seekers), Guardamar de la Safor (-23.08%, 20 job seekers), and Llocnou de Sant Jeroni (-5, 23 job seekers) reduced their lists.
