The Generalitat has approved the installation of protection buoys on the beaches of Dénia, which will begin to be placed this weekend to delimit safe zones for swimmers.

The coasts of Dénia face overcrowding every summer and intense traffic of boats and jet skis that navigate too close to the shore, endangering those who practice diving or snorkeling. This year, with July's arrival, the protection buoys had not yet been installed, which has generated numerous complaints in both Les Rotes and Les Marines.
Beach users have warned of the danger, stating that "we are risking our lives" with vessels that do not respect the minimum distance. Fast boats have been observed entering the coast without snorkelers noticing. Furthermore, the contradiction of this saturation of vessels in an environment where whales have recently been sighted, sensitive species that require protection, has been highlighted.
The situation is repeated in other stretches of the Dénia coastline, such as El Raset, where jet skis pass "like arrows." The presence of several sports marinas and rental companies in Dénia generates dense motorboat traffic, and many crew members lack training or experience, increasing the risk of accidents.
The Councilor for Beaches, Pepe Doménech, explained that the delay in installing the buoys is due to the awarding of the service to a new company for the next four years. The tender process included a suspiciously low bid that required justification. However, he assured that the installation is imminent and is expected to begin this weekend.
Doménech also recalled that the rest of the coastal services for the recently started high season are already operational, including the reinforcement of lifeguards, beach bars, the water park, and the biblio-beach.
