The event filled the main hall of the Casa de la Marquesa and featured the participation of the author, Eva Máñez, the director of CEIC Alfons el Vell, Juli Capilla, the councilor for Democratic Memory, Alícia Izquierdo, and the representative of the Association of Families of Francoism Victims, Aina Tarrasó.
During the speeches, the historical, social, and human value of this publication was highlighted, as it compiles dozens of testimonies that had remained silent for decades. The book focuses not only on the repression exercised by Francoism but also on its consequences for the victims' families, especially women, who suffered specific and often invisible violence.
Furthermore, the importance of continuing to promote initiatives for the recovery of democratic memory was emphasized, both from institutions and civil society, with the aim of dignifying the victims and contributing to the construction of a more just society aware of its past.
The work, edited by the Department of Democratic Memory of the Gandia City Council and CEIC Alfons el Vell, is part of the research and dissemination efforts carried out in La Safor in recent years concerning Francoist repression and the mass graves in the Gandia cemetery.
The presentation concluded with an acknowledgment of the work of all individuals and groups involved in the project, as well as an emotional tribute to the victims and their families, protagonists of a work that helps preserve memory and prevent oblivion.
