This event, offering a catalog of over 2,500 titles in Valencian, is presented this year under the motto “Reading for Recovery,” highlighting books as an essential tool for collective reconstruction.
The program extends beyond mere book sales, including a variety of activities. Among these are round tables on historical memory, coinciding with the 90th anniversary of the Civil War, and the popular “Mossets de literatura,” which merge science and literature.
“"The Plaça del Llibre is a celebration of Gandia's commitment to promoting literature in Valencian and defending our own language. More than 30% of municipal library loans correspond to literature in Valencian."
From the organization, a spokesperson emphasized the importance of bringing books to the streets to counteract the low presence of Valencian publishers in regular commercial circuits. They stated that they work to foster reading with an emotional perspective towards the Valencian Country, considering the Plaça a choral action that integrates culture, language, and territory.
The event will feature prominent literary figures and will conclude on Sunday with the performance “Agitació poètica Piera,” reaffirming Gandia's role as a cultural benchmark with international projection.
