2.6 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Oliva, Felt in Safor and Marina Alta

A 2.6 magnitude earthquake with its epicenter in Oliva, in the province of Valencia, was recorded last night, felt in various locations across the Safor and Marina Alta regions.

The seismic movement occurred at 9:53 PM and, so far, has prompted at least one call to the 112 emergency number related to the tremor. The epicenter was located southwest of Oliva, at a depth of eight kilometers, according to data released after the event.
Residents of several nearby towns perceived the tremor, especially in municipalities closer to the border between the provinces of Valencia and Alicante.
Oliva, located in the southeast of the province of Valencia and belonging to the Safor region, borders the province of Alicante. Therefore, the tremor could also be felt in towns in the Marina Alta.
