The Generalitat Valenciana has requested the Gandia City Council to convene the follow-up commission for the agreement regarding the former Palau de Comunicacions, aiming to analyze its current situation and plan next steps.

This request comes just days after detachments detected on the facade forced its declaration of partial ruin, located in the historic center of Gandia.
Along with the request, the regional administration has already provided the list of representatives who will participate on its behalf in the commission. These include the regional secretary for Institutional Policy and Territorial Cohesion, the director general of Heritage, the director general of Innovation, the director general of Urban Planning, Landscape and Environmental Assessment, and the director general of Government Action.
The activation of this committee will occur at a particularly delicate time for the former Post Office. The building has long faced an uncertain future, but the situation worsened after detachments recorded on April 17. That incident necessitated a technical review and once again highlighted the need for swift action on one of the city's most emblematic properties.
Subsequent inspections indicated the existence of two affected interior points. Although no risk of general building collapse was observed, the need to intervene to secure certain areas and guarantee safety became clear. In parallel, the City Council had already urged the Generalitat to take urgent measures and declare the partial imminent ruin of the compromised areas.
Now, the convening of the commission can serve to organize the debate and establish a roadmap. This includes not only the immediate actions required for the property but also the final destination of a building that, since its acquisition by the Generalitat in May 2024, still lacks a definitive closed project.
