The phenomenon of the 'K-pop Warriors', a fictional story about a K-pop group using secret powers to protect their fans, has become a global success. While the original story suggests a Korean origin for the protagonists Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, the version now thriving in La Safor has its roots in Gandia.
This musical project is an initiative of the Por Amor al Arte dance school in Gandia, directed by Raquel Bover. The idea arose from the need to meet the demand from young audiences for such shows, given the difficulty of finding tickets for K-pop concerts. Carla Fos, Sandra Acosta, and Laura Peligro, three orchestra singers, are responsible for bringing the three protagonists to life.
“"It all started in a cafeteria, while we were having coffee, as we are all singers. My seven-year-old daughter wanted to go to a concert and it was impossible to find tickets. We thought that as singers, we could do something."
In just a few weeks, the team managed to prepare the show, which included finding dancers in Gandia and Tavernes, production, and part of the costumes. The goal is for this performance at the Casa de la Cultura de Tavernes de la Valldigna on April 9 to be the first in a series, with plans to continue performances next winter.
To promote the show, the K-pop Warriors have walked the streets of Gandia and Tavernes de la Valldigna, encouraging residents to join this story which, according to them, is about overcoming fears and true friendships, without gender distinction.
