The citizens of Gandia have selected the projects to be implemented in 2026 through participatory budgeting, with a total investment of 150,000 euros for three key actions.

The city of Gandia has announced the projects that will be carried out in 2026 thanks to the participatory budgeting process. This edition registered a total of 6,013 votes, once again demonstrating citizen involvement in local decision-making.
With a total allocation of 150,000 euros, the program will allow for the execution of three actions, each with an investment of 50,000 euros. These improvements will be developed by the Urban Planning department of the city council.
Among the winning proposals, the second phase of adaptation of the Sant Cristòfol building, in the old schools of Benipeixcar, stands out as the most voted option with 777 supports. This is followed by the comprehensive revitalization and improvement of road safety around the Marenys de Rafalcaid Social Center, which received 740 votes. The list is completed by the improvement and adaptation of the patio of the “La Quadra de Beniopa” building, with 726 votes.

"The process is a tool for direct democracy. We appreciate the involvement of all individuals, groups, and associations who have participated in the presentation and defense of projects."

In addition to the selected initiatives, the process has highlighted other projects with significant backing, such as the creation of an accessible classroom in the Roís de Corella Senior Citizens' Coexistence Center, with 601 votes, or the climate adaptation project “Raval Fresc i Sostenible”, which garnered 490 supports. Proposals such as the illumination of the Calvari de Beniopa, the improvement of the Gandia-Platja bike lane, or the adaptation of access to the Santa Anna hermitage are also included.
The City Council has reiterated its commitment to continue promoting this participatory model in future editions, with the intention of improving both its design and its economic endowment to respond to a greater number of neighborhood proposals.
