One of the most relevant decisions of the session was the approval of an agreement with the University of Alicante, endowed with 108,900 euros. This agreement aims to promote research studies focused on improving railway and mobility services in the region.
Among the planned lines of work, the technical, environmental, and economic feasibility analysis for the possible implementation of a new TRAM service between Gandia and Dénia is included. Furthermore, a demand study will be carried out to increase railway frequencies between Alcoi, Ontinyent, and Xàtiva, and the potential of regional high-speed rail at Xàtiva station will be evaluated.
The agreement also stipulates that the research team must participate in follow-up meetings and publicly present the results obtained, ensuring transparency and the dissemination of generated knowledge.
Another highlight was the approval of the regulations for the Economic and Social Council (CES) of the Consortium. This permanent advisory body is designed to strengthen the involvement of social and economic agents in decision-making. The CES will act as an advisory body, allowing for the development of proposals, issuing reports, and conducting strategic diagnoses.
The Economic and Social Council will be composed of institutional, business, trade union, academic, and political representatives. A consultation period will be opened with entities interested in joining the council, with the aim of incorporating contributions to the new body. The session also included the approval of the Consortium's general budget for 2026 and the definition of the financial contributions from its member entities.
