The beaches of Sueca and El Perelló reopened for swimming this Wednesday, July 1st, after months of coastal regeneration works, coinciding with the first major heatwave.

In Sueca, normality has been marked by the appearance of an approximately one-meter-high step in the sand, particularly noticeable in areas like Motilla beach. According to technicians and City Council sources, this level difference is temporary and due to the lack of settling of the enormous volume of sand added to reinforce the coast. The waves themselves are expected to compact the material. Meanwhile, the council will use machinery to lower the most pronounced steps and at access points, as well as repair damage caused by heavy traffic to roads and sidewalks.
El Perelló beach reopened a large part of its coastline this Saturday, with the exception of the El Socarrat area, which remains closed as a storage area for materials for pending works. The council has called for respect for signage, cordoned-off areas, and the new dunes, which are vital for protection against erosion.
For the safety of bathers, extreme caution is advised in El Perelló, as the new seabed configuration may have altered the depth. In the coming days, summer facilities will be completed, including lifeguard stations, walkways, and watchtowers. Both towns are confident that once the initial adjustments and works are finished, their coasts will offer the best conditions.
