Almussafes Hosts XXVIII National Wheelchair Tennis Open

The competition will bring together 23 players from ten autonomous communities, including six of the top ten in the national ranking.

The town of Almussafes will host the XXVIII National Wheelchair Tennis Open between April 9 and 12, a consolidated event that will bring together prominent players from across Spain.

The tournament, organized by the Almussafes Tennis Club, the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation, and the Valencian Tennis Federation, is supported by the Local Council. This edition will feature the participation of 23 players from ten autonomous communities.
Among the participants, six of the top ten seeds in the men's national ranking stand out, totaling 12 of the top 20 tennis players in the country. The events will include individual and doubles modalities. Names such as Jorge Iglesias, Quico Tur, Mario Roque, Francesc Prat, and Juanjo Rodríguez, who hold positions four, five, six, seven, and eight respectively in the national ranking, will be present.
The municipal facilities located in the Joan Carles I industrial estate will be the venue for the matches, which will begin on Friday, April 10, at 9:30 AM. This tournament, integrated into the National Circuit of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation, will offer a total of 3,000 euros in prizes.
The official presentation of the event will take place on Thursday, April 9, at 9:00 PM at the Llar del Jubilat. This event will include the draw for the competition brackets and a gala dinner with the presence of players, organizers, and local authorities.
The finals will be played on Sunday, April 12. The consolation finals will start at 9:30 AM, followed by the individual and doubles finals, scheduled around 11 AM and 12 PM, respectively. The trophy ceremony, which will mark the end of the tournament, will take place from 1:30 PM.

Miguel Ribes, president of the Almussafes Tennis Club, emphasized that the objective of this open is to foster adapted sports and highlight associated values. Furthermore, he recalled that the tournament was recognized by the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation as the second-best event of Empren Esports 2022 in the adapted sports category, receiving a grant of 15,000 euros.
