The Provincial Council of Valencia has put out to tender the conditioning and improvement works for the road connecting Antella with Sumacàrcer, an action budgeted at €585,946.66 to intervene on more than 3.6 kilometers of this route, classified as a Road of Territorial Interest by the provincial Roads department.
The Deputy for Roads and Second Vice-President of the Provincial Council, Reme Mazzolari, emphasized in a statement that this action "will allow the modernization of a strategic road in La Ribera that connects agricultural holdings, services, and population centers, in addition to providing access to the service road of the Tous reservoir".
Mazzolari explained that the project "incorporates a comprehensive intervention to resolve the problems detected in the road surface and increase road safety at the most sensitive points of the route" and stresses the importance of "maximizing drainage capacity, something especially relevant in an area accustomed to intense rainfall episodes".
"La Ribera is a region with enormous agricultural, economic, and population weight within the province, and that is why the Provincial Council continues to promote investments that improve local communications and guarantee safer and more efficient infrastructure for residents, farmers, and public services," she stressed.
The work will be carried out entirely within the municipality of Antella and will allow for the renovation of the most deteriorated sections of the road, improvement of water drainage, and reinforcement of various points affected by runoff and surface wear. Additionally, the carriageway will be "punctually" widened in the narrowest areas, and all vertical and horizontal signage will be renewed, also incorporating new protective elements at points with greater slopes.
One of the most notable elements of the intervention will be the construction of a roundabout with an external radius of 14 meters at the intersection between the service road of the Tous dam and the access to Sumacàrcer, designed to organize movements and reinforce safety at a particularly busy point. The project establishes an estimated execution period of four months from the award of the works.
