The municipal group Compromís in Castelló City Council supports public schools not participating in Escola Canta due to the strike and requests the suspension of the 2026 edition.

The municipal group Compromís in the Castelló City Council has shown its support for the 19 public educational centers in the city that have decided not to participate in the final events of the L’Escola Canta project as a consequence of the indefinite strike in defense of Valencian public education. The deputy spokesperson for Compromís, Pau Sancho, has pointed out that the decision made by the centers highlights the seriousness of the educational conflict caused by the policies of the government of Mazón and Pérez Llorca.
Sancho stated that "we are talking about a program that has involved months of work, effort, and enthusiasm from students, teachers, and families. But we are also talking about an educational strike that is mobilizing a very important part of the educational community in defense of public education. The centers have made a decision consistent with this reality and deserve all our respect".
Given this situation, Compromís believes that the best solution is to suspend the 2026 edition and move the project to next year. "It makes no sense to celebrate an Escola Canta without the participating public centers. The most responsible thing to do is to postpone this edition and ensure that in 2027 the same centers can complete the work they have developed throughout the course," explained Sancho.
The councilor highlighted that the objective must be to protect the educational project and prevent students from ultimately paying the consequences of a conflict generated by the Consell's lack of dialogue with the educational community. "Children cannot lose an experience they have prepared for months. Precisely for this reason, the best way to preserve the project is to postpone it, not to act as if nothing has happened and celebrate it without a large part of the centers that give it meaning," he pointed out.
Finally, Sancho reiterated Compromís's support for the teachers' demands and called on the Valencian government to abandon confrontation and resume negotiation channels with the educational community. "The best way to defend projects like Escola Canta is also to defend quality public education. And that means listening to teachers, families, and educational centers," he concluded.
