The Government of Spain is strengthening the public care system with an additional 500 million euros to comply with the ALS law, guaranteeing specialized and continuous care for affected individuals.

The Secretary of Social Policy of the provincial executive of the PSPV-PSOE of Castellón has highlighted that, for the first time, the State will directly assume the cost of care for these individuals. This ensures a specialized, intensive, and continuous care model 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"Spain once again demonstrates that it is a country that takes care of its people, that leaves no one behind, and that advances in social rights with policies that put people at the center."

The socialist leader recalled that, during the governments of the Popular Party, dependency suffered a cruel offensive that expelled more than 2,000 people from the system in the province of Castellón alone. In contrast, the Government of Spain has increased structural investment in dependency by 600 million annually, reducing the waiting list by more than 40% and increasing the number of beneficiaries by 59%.
The new decree also establishes an additional level of protection, Grade III+ of extreme dependency, which recognizes the subjective right to intensive care with permanent health and social attention. This category provides for a ratio of five professionals per beneficiary and includes respiratory and feeding support to ensure more dignified and personalized care.

"This commitment to dependency reflects a way of understanding the country, that of the socialists, in which the State protects, cares for, and guarantees the dignity of those who need it most. That is the big difference between progressive governments and right-wing governments: they cut and weaken the system to favor private healthcare; we strengthen it and dignify people's lives."
