The motion, to be presented in the ordinary April plenary session, seeks to guarantee the full execution of the awarded project on the N-232 stretch between Masia de la Torreta and Morella Sud. The president of the Castellón Provincial Council, Marta Barrachina, has highlighted the importance of this route as a strategic connection between northern Spain and the Mediterranean coast, essential for mobility and the economic development of Castellón.
“"We are talking about a strategic and essential route that connects northern Spain with the Mediterranean coast. A key infrastructure for the mobility of residents and for the economic development of Castellón."
The president has lamented the paralysis of the works, which began last year and were suspended this 2026 without official communication. This, she states, demonstrates a lack of commitment from the Central Government to the province. She insisted that the people of Castellón deserve answers and solutions, and that the Government of Spain must fulfill its commitments regarding budgeted and awarded infrastructures.
The vice-president of the provincial institution and government spokesperson, Héctor Folgado, has expressed his concern about the lack of progress in all pending road infrastructures. He has called for urgent investments for the improvement of the A-7 highway inland and the promotion of the connection between Vilanova d'Alcolea and La Jana, a 48-kilometer stretch with an estimated investment of 349.7 million euros, crucial for territorial cohesion and access to opportunities in rural areas.
The motion also includes the demand for the immediate execution of the underpass on the N-232 as it passes through Sant Jordi, a historical demand from the locality, as well as the completion of pending accesses on the AP-7 in municipalities such as Benicàssim, Vila-real, and Vinaròs. These actions are considered essential to improve connectivity and address the needs of the territory, as communications are a key element for economic development and population retention.
