The Carcaixent City Council has donated two plots of land to the Valencian Generalitat for the construction of public protection housing aimed at young people, with affordable rents.

The Carcaixent plenary session unanimously approved the transfer of nearly 1,800 square meters in the Gaianes sector. This initiative will allow the construction of between 35 and 42 homes to be offered to young people aged 18 to 35 under an affordable rental scheme. The agreement facilitates Carcaixent's inclusion in the batch of Public Protection Housing (VPP) that the regional ministry plans to award.
The municipal management explained that Carcaixent was able to join the Generalitat's Plan Vive through the Local Recovery Plan (PRL), as a municipality affected by the DANA (cold drop). This adhesion comes after a failed attempt through ordinary channels. The main objective is the construction of protected housing for young people under a rental scheme, with the free transfer of two plots measuring 467 and 1,307 square meters.

"We believe they must be protected against speculative processes and have a transparent and public registry."

a Compromís spokesperson
The opposition expressed doubts about the housing allocation process once built, as the file did not provide detailed information on this aspect. A Compromís spokesperson pointed out that the town suffers from high housing prices and called for a transparent registry to prevent speculation. A PSPV spokesperson justified their support as an act of responsibility, despite considering the proposal incomplete due to a lack of clarity in the allocation criteria.
The municipal management defended the transparency of the process and highlighted that, in addition to age and income, a residency criterion has been incorporated. This criterion requires applicants to have been registered in Carcaixent for fifteen years, with the last ten consecutively. It was also recalled that regional regulations currently govern allocation by order of application submission, and it was assured that the governing group will ensure proper allocation.
A Vox spokesperson claimed that the Plan Vive, which will enable the construction of these homes, is the result of their party's agreement with the Popular Party during the current regional president's term.
