Flood prevention works on the busy Reyes Católicos Avenue underpass in Benifaió are set to begin on April 20, with an estimated duration of two months, and will include a new drainage system.

Technical staff from the Benifaió City Council and the Conservation and Exploitation Services department of the Roads Area of the Provincial Council of Valencia have already coordinated the execution of these actions. These works have been a demand from the local government team following the DANA event on October 29, 2024.
In addition to the necessary repairs, a new drainage system will be implemented, including pumping mechanisms. This system is designed to facilitate the evacuation of water that accumulates during periods of intense rainfall, significantly improving the municipality's response capacity to adverse weather phenomena.
The Benifaió City Council has held several meetings with the Provincial Council of Valencia to coordinate the works and the closure of the underpass to vehicles. According to the project, the road section will be closed to traffic from April 20 to June 19, for approximately two months.

"We thank the Provincial Council of Valencia for their willingness to carry out these works, which have been demanded by us. Together with the Ministry's drainage works on the train tracks, currently in the bidding phase, Benifaió will be a town better protected against floods."
