The incident occurred on June 10th, when a woman approached an elderly resident of Càrcer, feigning affection. She then forcibly snatched a piece of jewelry, causing the victim several injuries. The escape was made with an accomplice in a car.
Thanks to a swift alert to officers, the vehicle was located in Càrcer. After a high-speed chase and blocking the CV-557, the suspects were apprehended. The victim fully identified the arrested woman and the vehicle used during the escape.
Subsequent investigations have confirmed this is a traveling gang that targeted small towns, exploiting vulnerable individuals. This criminal group is also linked to two similar assaults committed this month in the provinces of Jaén and Almería.
The Civil Guard warns about the danger of this modus operandi, which increasingly involves explicit violence and physical intimidation, particularly against the elderly or those with mobility issues, often on isolated roads or industrial estates.
The investigation was conducted by agents from the Investigation Team of the Xàtiva Company, with significant collaboration between the Civil Guard and local police forces in the region. The proceedings have been handed over to the Civil and Instruction Section of the Court of Xàtiva.
