UD Alzira and Ciutat d'Alzira Futbol Base have reached a merger agreement, to be officially announced next Wednesday at 6:30 PM at the Luis Suñer Picó stadium, creating a new sports project in Alzira.

This long-awaited union will allow both entities to retain their respective federative numbers and kits, but they will operate under the direction of a single joint board. The goal is to consolidate grassroots football in the town and avoid competition for players.
The key to materializing this agreement has been the incorporation of the Alzira businessman José Vicente Hurtado into the blue-and-red board, taking charge of the youth academy. The good relationship with the red-and-black president, Santi Garés, has facilitated negotiations, overcoming past obstacles.
Ciutat d'Alzira Futbol Base, which was founded in 1997 as CF L'Alquerieta, changed its name to broaden its scope beyond the neighborhood. As early as 2005, under the presidency of Pepe Bartolomé, the first attempts at union occurred, but they did not prosper due to differences among leaders.

Now a mega-club with more than 50 teams will be created, without players having to be taken from one another.

Currently, UD Alzira has 34 teams and Ciutat d'Alzira has 21, totaling 55 teams. This merger represents a significant step forward for local football, creating a more powerful and cohesive structure.
