This competition, organized by Santa María School with the sponsorship of the Vila-real City Council and the company People & Technology, has already announced the list of selected projects that will fill the city with talent and innovation.
The three-day program will begin on Thursday, April 23, at 9:00 a.m. with participant accreditation, followed by the inauguration ceremony at 11:00 a.m. Until Saturday, April 25, young researchers will present their work to the public and the jury at the exhibition grounds. One of the most anticipated moments will be on Friday, April 24, with a "monumental paella" for all attendees, prior to the closing ceremony on Saturday at noon, where awards will be presented to the best projects.
This year's selection stands out for its great thematic and geographical diversity. Vila-real will be represented by centers such as IES Broch i Llop, with projects like 'Almond Volt' or 'GreenScan', Colegio Bisbe Pont, and Santa María School itself, which presents innovative proposals such as 'Aquaball Dron' or studies on epigenetics.
In addition to the strong presence of centers from across the Valencian Community and the rest of Spain —including cities like Bilbao, A Coruña, and Ourense—, Vilaciència 2026 reinforces its international character. The event will host a total of 14 projects from Turkey, with numerous investigations from Çakabey School Izmir, as well as works from Portugal, Brazil, Luxembourg, and Tunisia. Among the international themes, the use of Artificial Intelligence for disease detection or studies on glacier melt in Greenland stand out.
The selected projects cover fields as diverse as aerodynamics in Formula 1, the application of nanomedicine in brain tumors, sustainability in citrus cultivation, or the restoration of Renaissance murals using AI. With this initiative, Vila-real consolidates its position as a city committed to scientific dissemination and fostering research vocations among ESO, Baccalaureate, and Vocational Training students.
