The amount, from the call for aid to promote Valencian in municipalities, places Vila-real among the municipalities with the highest economic allocation, receiving the same amount as the Valencia City Council. This grant is based on the evaluation of the justification report submitted by the council, which details a wide range of actions primarily driven by the Department of Linguistic Normalization.
Among the subsidized initiatives is the operation of the Department of Linguistic Normalization, which has a Valencian promotion office with three full-time career civil servant linguistic technicians and a municipal regulation for linguistic normalization in force since 1994. Valencian courses for adults and numerous promotion campaigns in the educational, cultural, and social spheres have also been valued.
In the educational field, the report includes programs such as the school radio program Ràdio-activitat, the educational guide Recull, the 27th Sambori Award, school cinema sessions in Valencian, theatrical performances for secondary students, and the organization of the school and civic Correllengua. The recognized cultural programming includes tourism promotion campaigns in Valencian, concerts, short plays, puppet shows, and musicals, as well as guided tours of the Ethnological Museum.
The subsidy also recognizes actions supporting reading in Valencian, such as subscriptions to magazines like Camacuc and El Temps, the presentation and acquisition of books in Valencian, and the publication of works by local authors. Other subsidized activities include the Voluntariat pel valencià campaign and the work of labeling and signage of public roads in Valencian.
“"From the City Council, we make a firm commitment to normalization because we invest in actions aimed at educational centers, associations, publications... without knowing if we will receive this aid later or not."
The Councilor for Linguistic Normalization, Santi Cortells, has positively valued the grant and thanked the work of the department's technicians, emphasizing the council's commitment to defending the language, stating that 'we have always been a benchmark and an example throughout the Valencian Country'.
