The municipality has prepared various actions to give visibility to the community and defend equality, diversity, and respect. As a sign of municipal commitment, the City Council has raised the Pride flag on the balcony of the consistorial building, and flags have also been placed on all the town's beaches, reinforcing Moncofa's message as an open, inclusive, and discrimination-free space.
The Councilor for Equality, María Teresa Alemany, highlighted that Pride Day is “a day for reivindicating the rights and freedom of all people to live and love as they wish,” but also “an opportunity to continue advancing as a society in respect and coexistence.” Alemany emphasized that “Moncofa wants to be an open, inclusive, and welcoming town,” a line of work recently reinforced with the municipality's award of the LGTBIQ+phobia Free Space designation.
The program will culminate on Saturday, July 4th, with the celebration of “Moncofa, el nostre orgull 2026.” Events will begin at 6:00 PM in Plaça Na Violant d’Hongria with the inauguration of the exhibition “Diversity in capital letters,” a traveling exhibition promoted by the Provincial Council, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of inclusion and respect for diversity.
Subsequently, the celebration will move to Plaça dels Cucs, where at 7:00 PM the LGTBIQ+ march will take place. Following the march, the opening speech will be delivered by writer and journalist specialized in diversity José Mola. The day will continue with the reading of the institutional manifesto by the mayor, Wences Alós Valls, along with councilors from the municipal corporation.
The most festive part will begin around 8:00 PM with performances by Picos Pardos, La Villaexcusa, and Papo Princess, closing a program designed to bring the community together around diversity and equality. Alemany invited both residents and visitors to participate in a day that seeks to combine the reivindicative nature of Pride with a festive, participatory, and respectful atmosphere.
